Flash from Macromedia is a marvellous programme:
The artwork might be a car manufacturer's new fall line, a travelogue, an orchestra where children can click on the instruments to play a tune... but not a site to transact business. Most of the problems with Flash sites are created by the designers: |
||
The eternal "loading" screens (artful as they might be), tiny print which is often very hard to read, music defaulted to "on" (and often blaring), linear navigation unless you can decipher the clues, losing the functionality of browser buttons, specialized training to update pages, and time spent by the viewer. Flash websites are brilliant, creative, and delightful when used properly. This commentary is the opinion of Lynda French, feel free to email your arguments |
